Road closures

Check here for information about temporary road closures or activities that impact on traffic conditions in Newcastle.

Council will make every effort to ensure disruptions to traffic, businesses, pedestrians and residents are minimised during works.

Railway Street, Newcastle West - 2 - 13 November

Railway Street, Newcastle West will be closed to traffic from Monday 2 November 2009 to Sunday 13 November 2009 between 12.30am and 11.30pm (weather permitting). The closure is necessary for upgrade works at the level crossing.

Orchardtown Road, New Lambton - 1 November

Council wishes to advise Orchardtown Road, New Lambton (the one-way road from Myra Street, fronting the shops, to the Blackbutt Hotel) will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic for the Blackbutt Fair event on Sunday 1 November 2009 – from 6.00am to 6.00pm

Temporary long term lane closure, Elizabeth Street, Tighes Hill

The east bound lane of Elizabeth Street, Tighes Hill between William Street and Kings Road will be closed from Wednesday 20 August 2008 for approximately 18-24 months.

Residents in this part of Elizabeth Street will still be able to access their properties from the William Street end.

Council works reduce the risk of falling rocks and stabilise the road cutting.

The cutting, excavated more than 70 years ago, is constantly exposed to the elements. Council has maintained the area through minor works for some time but now major intervention is required.

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternative route during this time.

Council apologises to residents for the inconvenience the road closure may cause.

For further information about the changes to traffic flows please call the project manager on 02 4974 2420.
