Public exhibitions

Council listens to the people of Newcastle and involves them in decision making about the future development of our city.

If information is put on "public exhibition" it means it is made available for you to read and examine.

Information is put on public exhibition so you can provide your comment and input to Council.

Examples of things that are put on exhibition include proposals relating to policy changes, development applications and strategic plans that impact on our city.

Weekly Notification List

Council produces a Weekly Notification List which provides details on the development applications and planning proposals placed on public exhibition during the previous seven days.

The list gives details of the development proposal(s) and the time period within which you can make comment on the plans to Council.

Any detailed plans and supporting documents on exhibition are available for inspection during the time period provided on the Weekly Notification List.

Public exhibition documents

You can find copies of public exhibition documents at:

  • The Council’s Customer Enquiry Centre, Ground Floor, 282 King Street Newcastle (8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday)
  • The information desk of the Public Library nearest to the proposal (check with your library for opening hours)
  • Council's website (if the documents are not too large).

Any person may make a written submission to the Council regarding these proposals. Submissions must be received by 5:00pm on the last day of the applicable exhibition period.
