Award winning images from this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. Owned by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine, it is the most prestigious contest of its kind. Each photograph in the stunning exhibition tells a different story. All show the artistry and patience it takes to be a world-class photographer.

18 August: Author Visit - Hazel Edwards Children's Bookweek 2008: Antarctic Writer on Ice
Hazel Edwards is one of Australia's best known children's authors. During 2001 she spent time as the Australian Antarctic expedition writer on Casey Station, which inspired her picture book Antarctic Dad, and her adult work Antarctica's frozen chosen. Her stories contain illustrations and photographs and have been produced in Braille and Auslan (DVDs). This fascinating evening will be enjoyed by children and adults alike.

19 August: 'The Night Garden'by Tony Bones Entertainment
'The Night Garden' is a musical play adaptation of one of this year's Children's Bookweek short listed picture books. Experience the book coming to life with 'original song and dance numbers, thrilling and moving drama, puppetry and hysterical comedy'. Adapted and performed by experienced actors, the theatre troupe received rave reviews when they performed here last year. This play will be enjoyed by children 4-12 years.

30 May - 31 July "Through the Lens"
'Through the Lends' is an exhibition of photography and photomedia works captured through the lenses of microscopes, cameras, DNA sequencers and scientific equipment.
The exhibition is the result of a photography competition for Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) affiliated researchers to celebrate HMRI's 10th Anniversary.
