Gallery support groups include The Newcastle Region Art Gallery Foundation and the Newcastle Gallery Society.
The Newcastle Region Art Gallery Foundation
The Newcastle Region Art Gallery Foundation attracts corporate and community support to assist the development of the Gallery and to foster wider appreciation of the visual arts in the Hunter region.
The Foundation has presented funds to the Gallery to acquire many important and valuable works.
The Foundation recognises the rich cultural heritage and strong community spirit of this region and invites corporations, businesses and individuals to become members so that the Gallery can be supported in its ongoing development.
The key objectives of the Foundation are to:
- Harness interest, abilities and financial support for the benefit of the Gallery and its activities
- Help the Gallery to acquire significant works of art for its permanent collection and
- Assist the Gallery to continue its program of special and visiting exhibitions.

Newcastle Gallery Society
The Newcastle Gallery Society aims to stimulate wide community interest in the Gallery.
Throughout the year the Society arranges lectures and films on the visual arts, special previews of exhibitions and visits to other galleries and collections for its members
Since 1970, the Society has published the magazine Artemis, which provides an informative digest of exhibitions, acquisitions and people involved in the visual arts.
Through fund-raising and income from events, the Gallery Society is able to provide support for Gallery programs.
Annual membership costs $35.
