Once these arrangements are finalised, the community will be welcomed back to this much loved piece of Newcastle's history.

Community Preview Weekend

Three days of events were held in the Fort Scratchley Precinct to acknowledge the official hand over after restoration works of the Fort by the Commonwealth of Australia to the citizens of Newcastle. These events were from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 June and featured

  • DVD screening of “Using Fort Scratchley Re-deployed…the story of a location in transition…” Produced, written & directed by Susan Kerrigan University of Newcastle
  • Parade and exhibition of ex-military vehicles to the fort
  • Public performances by Department of Education & Training Hunter/Central Coast Wind Ensemble.
  • Official ceremony inside the Fort for the completion of works and transfer of ownership.
  • Community Celebrations at the Fort including tunnel tours and gun firing demonstrations.
