Fare Free Bus
Have you heard of the Fare Free Bus Zone in Newcastle? Did you know that any state government bus is free in the city centre between 7.30am and 6:00pm seven days a week?
For timetable information on Newcastle bus and ferry services phone 131500 or visit the website. Printed timetables are available from the City Administration Centre or Hamilton Bus Depot.
You can print off our City Centre map (889 kb pdf) to help find your way to the nearest bus stop.
No more parking worries
Did you also know that you can park your car at the Throsby Car Park (opposite the Sparke Helmore building) on Honeysuckle Drive for just $3 a day? You can park there, walk over the railway overpass at Wickham Station and catch any bus to work. Known as Park and Ride, it is a cheap, easy and effective way to park your car all day.
Buses go along Hunter Street every couple of minutes.
The more people who use the fare free bus service, the more chance we have of making it a permanent feature of the city centre.
